ABOUT ME & THE SPOTTED DOG(S)
Cisco the German Shorthaired Pointer (pictured above) is the original and clear favorite spotted dog. He was a gift from the breeder when his nose was damaged at 6 weeks and the other pups wouldn't leave his stitches alone. He's been my shadow in the sewing room, the kitchen, at the river and the sea for more than a decade.

Cisco is joined in his effort to completely fill my house with dog hair by Jax, an Australian Cattle Dog and Rusty, a Catahoula Leopard dog. Owning 3 spotted dogs wasn't our plan, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

I'm much more boring and have fewer spots. I have been sewing for going on 35ish years and quilting for many of those. Although there was some interest in quilting at home, it was a friend I met in college in the early 1990s who really got me interested and then supported me with actual suggestions after I muddled through my first quilt with a pair of scissors and some templates using books my mother bought during the quilting renaissance in the 1970s.

I started this site to have a place to document my quilting in a more permanent (and let's be honest) more wordy way than Instagram. I enjoy sharing my photos, but sometimes I feel like I need the words to fully explain my thought process. Since I enjoy and learn so much from other quilty web content, it seemed right to share my own.
